Christmas brings its own magic. The most awaited season of the year creates an atmosphere where families are brought together and long lost friends reunite. The crisp and cool weather brings with it an air where people are more generous, where they care more and they give more – this is the true magic of Christmas. And OUR HOME celebrates this magic by bringing out the elegant and the festive, the sophisticated and the opulent and the grand and the posh – all geared to provide an extraordinary celebration where the home becomes the ideal setting for the magic to happen.
The trees are kept green with pine needles adorned in
gold, copper, green and brown. The color palette of the
Christmas trees brings to mind an ode to a magical setting
where white flowers are in full bloom completing the
stylish vibe of the tall and majestic pines. Wooden dividers
with horizontal slats give off a relaxed and urbane feel
while at the same time providing a secluded and private
area where the magical celebration can occur. These
wooden dividers now become the backdrop where festive
garlands are decorated with white peonies, copper and
gold adornments, green and brown decorations and white
tinsels and baubles to evoke a cohesive look mirroring the
elegance and the opulence of the settings it anchors in
place.
The entrance focal consists of a living and dining ensemble that play off of each other in texture and color. A three-seater and two-seater combination sofa set in shiny black leather set the stage for a bold and dramatic statement. Throw pillows in fabrics in metallic hues catch the eye as copper, gold and bronze textures evoke a classy feel. A pair of black leather tub arm chairs to one side give off a masculine feel while completing the layout and in a corner a black and gold photographer’s floor lamp acts as an accent lighting fixture. To complement the dramatic lighting in the space, a pair of copper pendant lights are dropped from the ceiling and wall sconces in black and copper finishes are attached to the walls. Wooden and wrought iron center, side and console tables pick up the earthy tones and on top of these, accoutrements are restricted to simply gold and copper textures, adding to the pomp and the glamour. Industrial inspired table lamps in perforated copper shades also heighten the dramatic lighting of the setting while underfoot, a gold shag rug elicits a luxurious appeal and creates an over-all warm feel.
Adjacent to the living area is a corresponding dining set-up that echoes the cosmopolitan ambiance. A long rectangular marble table with black and copper veining is emphasized via a custom designed centerpiece that utilizes the same holiday adornments while highlighting an interesting composition of candles and candle holders. Four mid-century modern Eero Saarinen black Tulip Chairs serve as dining chairs and automatically renders the setting iconic. Table settings are also impeccably laid out with white porcelain ware on gold chargers accompanied by elegant silver ware and crystal glassware. Behind, a tall armoire in black wenge finish is repurposed to serve as a china cabinet and instantly creates the illusion of height giving off a formal ambiance. A lone copper drop light acts as a means to illuminate the table setting while at the same time cohesively harmonizing with the metallic textures and finishes of the gold floor lamps. Again, a luxurious gold shag rug underneath exudes comfort and warmth.
The side focal is an exercise in luxury, indulgence and comfort as the bedroom setting attracts attention. Bordered by black velvet drapes with gold sheer netted curtains, the space elicits a certain sense of privacy and stillness while at the same time exuding a restful and somber mood – away from the noise and clatter of the celebrations. In this setting, a queen-sized bed takes center stage. Its raised padded leather platform design continues through to the headboard and becomes a statement piece. Donned in satin sheets in the same metallic tones, the bed now becomes a sophisticated furniture piece that beckons, welcomes and invites. A specially designed footrest at the
foot of the bed in gold and black consistently lends an air of opulence while solid black wood night tables and bureau drawers complete the look and provide functional storage options. Illumination is taken care of via a pair of crystal table lamps for ambient lighting and overhead, a trio of black and gold pendant lamps provide general lighting. A solid gold shag rug anchors the setting in place and for accent, a round wrought iron ottoman with a silver-gray cushion is added.
